The Treasures of the Snow

Job 38:22 says, “Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?”

SNOW! A nasty word to some and a delight to others. As I look out of my office window at a Winter Wonderland of snow I am reminded once again of God’s awesome ability to paint a picture more beautiful than man can ever dream. What a marvelous Lord!

Personally, I love snow – I love driving in it, playing in it – I love everything about it! Some of my fondest memories growing up in Chicago are those cold, snowy winters in the Midwest. I’ll never forget the morning of January 27, 1969 (my birthday) when my Mom woke me up quickly and told me to look out the window. I could not believe it! Snow to the tops of the cars – 36 inches in all!

Quickly, I put on my coat, boots, hat and everything I could find. I dashed out of the door and dove head first into snow up to my chest. I was in heaven. Even though my big birthday party was canceled – the joy of all that snow and fun I would have made my tenth birthday the most memorable one of all. The treasures of the snow can transform an ugly, dirty city into a picture perfect post card. What a reminder of Jesus and how in His love and mercy He is able to cleanse us of our filthy, dirty sin and make us even whiter than snow. A picture fit for a post card.

Isaiah 1:18

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
